How to Avoid Pre-holiday Burnout at Work?
If you have recently noticed signs of burnout in your behaviour, you may have pre-holiday burnout. The first thing to do in this case is to admit to yourself that you are not almighty, you do not have 6 pairs of hands for everything, and yes, you are an ordinary person who can get tired.
If you want to recover from it, we have some recommendations for you:
-
Maintain a sleep and rest routine. Plan your meals (if you’re used to ignoring hunger or you might miss it in the heat of enthusiasm, set reminders on your phone). Don’t forget to stay hydrated!
-
Try to incorporate cardio into your daily routine or at least find half an hour for a light walk.
-
When you feel stressed again, try breathing exercises. For example, do exercise “4-7-8” – exhale through the mouth. Close your mouth and breathe in through your nose while you count to 4. Hold your breath for a count of 7 and breathe out through your mouth on the 8th count.
-
Sign up for a massage. It has been shown to help reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol.
-
Talk about your feelings with someone you trust – a specialist or a good friend.
-
Do not forget that no matter how much you want to surprise your loved ones with impressive gifts, it should never exceed your finances, and in order to avoid stress, take care of the holiday gifts as early as possible.
-
And remember that burnout is a condition from which nobody is safe. So don’t blame yourself if you suddenly run out of energy. Start helping yourself as soon as possible and don’t push yourself to the limit!
Happy upcoming holidays!
