    What Motivates IT Specialists When Choosing an Employer?

    Although the worldwide pandemic has negatively affected the activities of many sectors, 67% of IT sector employees have not had any change in their work situation and are working as usual (compared to 50% of the entire global market). Even more, 1 out of 3 employees in the IT sector often worked overtime, while only 1% of IT sector workers lost their jobs. As in other sectors, employees in the IT sector have become more loyal to their employer - as many as 70% of IT sector employees expressed increased loyalty and trust in their employer, compared to 68% of the entire labor market. 

    Many IT workers expressed that the most important things for them when choosing an employer are: 

    • attractive salary and bonuses (65%); 

    • work-life balance (62%); 

    • job security (60%). 

    The next most important criteria were the company's financial security (57%) and pleasant working atmosphere (55%).

     When working in the IT field, technology, innovation, and keeping pace with innovations are also relevant, so compared to other sectors and the global labor market in general, it is more important for employees in the IT field than anywhere else that the company uses the latest technologies and software - 50% of IT employees named as an important aspect for them when choosing an employer, compared to the entire global labor market, where this factor was named as important by only 36% of respondents.

    True, priorities differ depending on the specialization of IT workers. ITC managers rate a good work-life balance, financial condition, and attractive salary and benefits as the most important factors (65%, 62%, and 62% respectively). Additionally, they consider strong management to be the fifth most important factor (56%), while for ITC and engineering professionals, strong management is a much less important pull factor (43%). Attractive salaries and benefits are more important to ITC and engineering professionals (69%) than managers and partners.
